Award Winning Organisation – 2014 Awards
Highly Commended for Excellence in Service Provision
GLCH received a Highly Commended certificate at the 2014 Victorian Public Health Care Awards for their submission ’10 years swimming upstream’. The submission detailed how an opportunity to work with Bung Yarnda Childcare at the Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust delivering a swimming program evolved into enhanced social connectedness, improved community relationships and cultural change. It also provided unexpected outcomes like increased employment opportunities for Aboriginal people as health workers and the development of many paediatric allied health services for the whole community.
Award for Local Excellence
GLCH took out the top prize in the health and community sector at this year’s Office National East Gippsland Business Awards. Held in October 2014, the awards are run by Business and Tourism East Gippsland and recognise businesses and business people for their contribution to the region.
