Paediatric Allied Health Services

GLCH offers a range of paediatric allied health services and therapy groups for children who need help with language and motor skills, social skills and general health and wellbeing, including:

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational therapists focus on children’s fine motor skills, sensory processing and gross motor skills, so children can participate in day-to-day activities, such as kinder, pre-school, play and self-care. We can help your child with:  

  • Fine motor skills such as grasping 
  • Self-care 
  • Sensory-motor skills, which is the understanding and interpreting of the five senses
  • Visual perceptual skills
  • Coordination and gross motor skills. 

Speech Therapy

Our Speech Pathologists diagnose and treat children’s issues associated with communication, language and speech including:  

  • Saying words clearly and correctly 
  • Understanding what others are saying 
  • Using words to form sentences 
  • Feeding and swallowing difficulties.

Podiatry

Our Podiatrists promote healthy foot development. We can provide you with a range of information and treatment options for your child including:  

  • Advice on appropriate footwear 
  • Treatment for flat feet, in-toeing and out-toeing walking patterns 
  • Help with any other concern you may have regarding your child’s feet.

Physiotherapy & Exercise Physiology

As physiotherapists, we aim to minimise the effects of physical impairment and improve movement abilities through different treatment methods. We’re skilled in helping your family and your children with a range of movement issues including:  

  • A delay of gross motor skills
  • Delays in rolling, crawling and walking 
  • Postural problems: body, spine, hips, knees and feet, unsteady balance 
  • Coordination: walking, running, throwing

Dietetics

Our Dietitian specialises in helping your family and children with a range of nutritional concerns including:  

  • Weight issues (underweight or overweight) 
  • Fussy eating 
  • Bowel issues 
  • Diabetes 
  • Food intolerances or allergies

When you contact us about our paediatric allied health services the first person you talk to is usually part of our Complete Therapies Service Access team. They will:

  • take or confirm your contact details
  • talk to you about your needs
  • give you information about our services and your rights and responsibilities as a client of GLCH
  • discuss eligibility and fees for the service, and
  • organise an appointment for you or arrange for a service to contact you
