Residents in East Gippsland will benefit from a multi-million dollar expansion of Gippsland Lakes Complete Health in Bairnsdale with the official opening today.

Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester secured $500,000 in Federal Government funding towards the extension in partnership with Gippsland Lakes Complete Health.

Mr Chester said the extension includes new flexible treatment spaces, interview rooms, individual and family counselling rooms, group meeting spaces and staff offices to meet increasing demands for health services.

“The development will not only support the needs of local people but also support the additional 50 staff needed to meet the growing demand for health and aged care services in the region,” Mr Chester said.

“Gippsland Lakes Complete Health is investing in our community, not only by expanding support needs but also using a local builder and supporting local jobs.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the Australian Government’s $500,000 investment in community infrastructure would provide long term benefits to the Gippsland Lakes.

“In addition to providing additional allied health treatment spaces, this investment will also produce benefits to the region through its ability to provide services in aged and disability care, family, youth and children care, allied health as well as clinical and nursing care,” Mr McCormack said.

“By supporting 20 jobs in construction and creating an expected 55 ongoing jobs after completion, this project will help bring economic prosperity to the Gippsland region for many years to come.”

This project was supported by $500,000 in funding from the Australian Government under the Building Better Regions Fund, $1.4 million from the Victorian Government and $500,000 from Gippsland Lakes Complete Health.
