Recent Medicare changes have resulted in private billing for all consultations including Telehealth in the absence of a concession card.

When the COVID-19 pandemic first threatened the health of Australians in March 2020, the Federal Government introduced conditional bulk billing Medicare rebates for Telehealth consultations. This allowed patients to remotely access their short-term health care needs and reduced the infection risks of COVID-19 to patients and health care workers.

From 30th September 2020, the Government has conditionally extended Telehealth services for a further six months but have scaled back Medicare funding for these services.

From 19th October 2020, GLCH will resume private billing (in the absence of a concession card) for all consultations including Telehealth. For a standard consultation this remains at $75, whether you are seen in person or via Telehealth (video or phone).  Both appointment types can continue to be booked online via HotDoc or via our reception team.
