By becoming a volunteer with Gippsland Lakes Complete Health (GLCH), people of all walks of life have the chance to help us deliver a range of services to the community.

One of these services is the Meals on Wheels program which is available to people who are elderly, frail or socially isolated. The service provides more than just a meal – it’s a way for socially isolated people to remain in touch through regular visits from our volunteers. In fact, seeing a friendly face at the door with their daily Meals on Wheels delivery is a highlight for many elderly people in our community. For some of our clients, this is the only interaction with another person they will have all day.

There are many ways to be involved, as an individual or as an organisation. Terry White Chemist in Bairnsdale was recently generous enough to donate two gift-baskets which were raffled to raise funds towards the Meals on Wheels program. The winners were Cathy Smith, whose husband is pictured collecting it on her behalf, and Terry Anne Gaskin of whom no photo was supplied.

If you are interested in becoming involved in this service, either through volunteering or accessing meals, contact Gippsland Lakes Complete Health directly at any of our locations in Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance, Bruthen or Metung.
