Laughing out loud — or LOLing, as the kids say — is all part of the fun when you’re volunteering with friends and making someone’s day.
Just ask the fabulous Grade 6 students from St Brendan’s Primary School in Lakes Entrance, who’ve been joining our Meals on Wheels deliveries as part of their Rotary Junior Community Award.
Sadie Williams, Millie Stewart, Isla Behan and Lacey Lee are some of our youngest volunteers, and they’ve been doing an amazing job delivering not just meals, but smiles and good vibes to older locals around town.
“We loved seeing how surprised the elderly were to see us helping,” said Sadie. “It’s easy to do in a team and you’ll be surprised at how fun it is. Plus, it earns you bragging rights. LOL.”
We’re proud to support volunteers of all ages — from 10 to 92! As our volunteer engagement officer Karren Hackling puts it:
“It’s all about giving back. While most of our volunteers are retirees, we’re thrilled to see younger people getting involved. Whether you’re in primary school, at uni, or taking a gap year, there’s a place for you here.”
We offer a range of flexible volunteer opportunities to suit different interests, ages and lifestyles.
