“The best day we’ve had in years!” That’s how Tony and Averil Van Vugt describe their free trishaw ride thanks to Cycling Without Age Gippsland!

We’re proud to support this initiative, helping older residents reconnect with their community.

Both recipients of our home care packages Tony and Averil enjoyed a one-hour ride piloted by CWAG chair and local Darren Chester MP, taking in the sights – including their first visit to the Bullock Island redevelopment.

Tony and Averil value their home care packages, which came about after Tony contracted Influenza A in August 2019, resulting in kidney failure. He was airlifted to Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital. It was an incredibly stressful time, and the Van Vugts are grateful to have put it behind them, with good support.
