We’re thrilled to share that Gippsland Lakes Complete Health has received a generous $4,125 donation from Freemasons Victoria to help us purchase a dermatoscope – a vital tool in detecting skin cancer.
With East Gippsland having one of the highest rates of melanoma in Victoria (according to Cancer Council data), this new equipment will help our medical team at Jemmeson Street provide even better care for our local community.
A dermatoscope is a hand-held device that helps GPs examine and diagnose skin conditions more accurately, including melanoma.
We’re incredibly grateful to Freemasons Victoria – several of whom are long-time patients at our Lakes Entrance clinic – for supporting our work in such a practical and meaningful way.
Darrell Traplin, Freemasons Gippsland South East District Coordinator, knows firsthand the importance of early skin cancer detection.
“Unfortunately, I’ve spent a fair bit of time on Dr Tom’s bench getting skin cancers cut out,” Darrell said.
“But we’re lucky to have this clinic here, and it’s important we look after the people who look after us.”
Our Executive Manager of Clinical and Nursing Services, Cheryl Bush, said community support like this means the world to us.
“As a not-for-profit, we rely on donations like this to keep improving our services,” Cheryl said.
“We’ve been part of the East Gippsland community for 50 years, and this kind of support helps us continue delivering the best possible care.”
